Mounting your Gimbal

There are two main methods to mount your gimbal.  The first is with the gimbal mount plate facing forwards which is useful if you are mounting your gimbal onto a fixed wing aicraft as shown.

The other upside down method which is more common for mounting it under your multicopter is shown.

Connecting everything together

The image below shows you how to connect your FY-G3 gimbal to your RC receiver so that you can control the modes.

Operation Modes

  • Heading Follow Mode:In this mode, the camera Pitch and Roll angles remain constant, heading follows the orientation of your aircraft, so if your aircraft changes its heading, the gimbal will follow in a smooth manner.   The Pitch can be controled by your RC input.
In this mode the LED will have single flashes
  • Heading And Pitch Follow Mode:Here the camera Roll angle remains constant.   The heading follows the aircraft heading like in the heading follow mode, but in this mode the pitch of the gimbal also follows the pitch of the aircraft in a smooth manner.  This method is useful if you are flying in FPV mode.
In this mode the LED will have double flashes
  • Heading Lock Mode: In this mode the Heading, Pitch and Roll are all locked to point at one position.  You can still manually change the angles via your RC inputs.
In this mode the LED will be on constantly with no flashes

Turning your gimbal on

To start, you need to keep the gimbal motionless, then connect the power to turn the gimbal on, hold the gimbal steady and it will initialize automatically.  Once complete the camera will be level with the horizon in pitch and roll angles and it will be in Heading Follow Mode.  If you find that the gimbal is not level, or not staying perfectly level then you may need to turn it off and on again so that it can re-initialize.

Updating Firmware

It is possible to update your firmware on the gimbal as new versions become available.  To do so you will need to download the updater firmware and the latest firmware version here.  Before you update the firmware you need to connect your gimbal as shown in the image below.
